10th Lit with mrs. walter
Our course is broken down into 6 units:
Unit One- Individual vs. Society (Antigone, Civil Disobedience essays)
Unit Two- "Outsiders" (Persepolis, Argo, Independent novels)
Unit Three- Research (10th grade research paper)
Unit Four- The Role of Leadership (Macbeth)
Unit Five- Dystopian Socities (Anthem, dystopian films)
Unit Six- The Beast Within (Lord of the Flies)
Weekly Plans
Week 1:
Monday 8/6: Welcome presentation, syllabus handout, class expectations, student survey
Tuesday 8/7: Turn in syllabus, "Gold Packet" introduction, 6-word memoirs (due at the end of the period)
Wednesday 8/8: Turn in syllabus , timed-writing strategies introduction, intro paragraph notes
Thursday 8/9: Writing intro paragraphs practice, explanation of body paragraphs discussion
Friday 8/10: Signed syllabus is due today, go over SAT rubric, grade example essays, discuss essays as a class, any last minute questions?
